Ahmed Boumiftah, President of the Moroccan-Canadian Association for Friendship and Cooperation, described the match as a historic occasion. At the same time, Boumiftah stressed the importance of sportsmanship. Salama Ghoulam, Vice President of the Moroccans in Quebec Association and Vice President of the Moroccan-Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Economy (CEMC), echoed these sentiments. He said members of the Moroccan community have been eagerly awaiting the match, with many organizing carpooling trips or even flying to attend the game in person despite logistical challenges.
Ghoulam also noted that several Moroccan community organizations have partnered with cafés and restaurants—both Moroccan-owned and local establishments—to create gathering spaces where supporters can watch the match together. Fan zones across Canada are expected to bring Moroccan and Canadian supporters together in a festive atmosphere that reflects mutual respect and friendship while celebrating Morocco's remarkable World Cup journey.
He added that celebrations following Moroccan victories have become a familiar sight in Canadian cities, with supporters taking to the streets waving flags, sounding car horns, and chanting in celebration. Nevertheless, Ghoulam emphasized that while Morocco remains the homeland and the country of one's roots, Canada also deserves recognition for welcoming Moroccan immigrants and providing them with opportunities to build successful lives and careers.
He concluded by calling on supporters to maintain the highest standards of respect and sportsmanship throughout the event. While football inspires deep passion, he said, values such as tolerance, solidarity, and mutual understanding should always come first. In his view, the World Cup offers not only a sporting spectacle but also an opportunity for Morocco to strengthen its international image through cultural diplomacy and the positive contributions of its diaspora.
